“And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead.”
PHILIPPIANS 3:10-11 AMP
In case the above passage is not recognized by some, it is the writing of Apostle Paul to the Believers in Philippi, during Paul’s imprisonment in Rome, and Paul is referring to Jesus Christ as he writes here.
Many times we may speak to people about our Lord Jesus, the Christ, Messiah, Saviour of all who call on Him, and the response heard is, “Oh ya, I am a Christian, I asked Jesus to forgive me, and come into my heart “X” number of years ago, so I’m ok.
It saddens me to hear that, when the person will not listen to any more, or carry the discussion any further, and no Fruit of the Spirit is seen in the life of that person.
Now, it is not my place to judge, I know, but many of these people have no joy in their lives, unless it is “payday” and the case, or the bottle is again available, or some other means of short lived entertainment.
My heart aches for each friend who claims that, and my prayer for each person in a situation like that is for them to truly experience Jesus as I know Jesus, having a relationship with Him that is ongoing, consistent, encouraging. Experiencing the Presence of our Lord Jesus is the greatest, most profound, most enlightening, most blessed time one can spend, whether it be while reading the Bible, or walking down the street through town alone, Jesus Christ will make Himself available to us, if we allow Him, and listen for Him to communicate with us.
Jesus Christ desires a close personal relationship with each of us. If you choose not to spend time with Him, I will question if the person has experienced Salvation.
Jesus also desires us to experience the Power of His Resurrection. This Power, the Power of the Spirit of God within us, will overflow through believers and be active to bless and share Christ with others.
