Salty Christians

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. (‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬ ESV)

What a sad occurrence that would be if I became so comfortable or complacent in my walk with Christ, that nothing would show in my life any longer, to show people, or draw people to Jesus Christ, if they do not know Him.

Or also, if nothing in my Christian Life would encourage a new Christ follower to dig deeper or desire to grow in their relationship with Jesus.

At that point there would be no value in my Christian walk at all. Evaluation needs to take place periodically, to see if my life is demonstrating a Christlikeness at all.

Christlikeness does not mean “legalism”.

Christlikeness means showing Love, Kindness, Forgiveness, Peace, Joy, Patience, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Self control.

Christlikeness means not acting or living on emotions alone, but making proper choices in life, everyday, in every situation.

Being a “salty” Christ follower, means that my life should have an influence on other lives in a positive manner, such as, others will enjoy being around me to learn of Christ, of life, and will not be turned off by words or actions they may hear, see, experience from me.

It is similar to eating salted chips or peanuts. Once started, the hand keeps going back into the container for more, because the mouth and taste buds desire more. Persons should desire more of Christ because they get a taste of Christ in my life.

Now, to live that way continually.
