“And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden, except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God said, ‘You shall not eat from it nor touch it, otherwise you will die.’””
GENESIS 3:2-3 AMP
1st sin against God was not eating the fruit, but was the lie Eve told the serpent. Eve’s lie was telling the serpent that God said to Adam and Eve that if they even touched that certain tree that they were not to eat from, they would die.
How often do we embellish the truth a little bit, to make something sound worse or better, bigger or smaller, than actuality?
Once Eve told that 1st lie, the serpent could use it for his benefit, saying to Eve, “You certainly will not die! For God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.” (Genesis 3:4-5)
If we think a “little white lie” is not serious to God, consider what His Word includes false testimony, lies, in with.
For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.
Truth in all things is important to God, therefore Truth should be important to all of us, especially Christ Followers.
