2 CORINTHIANS 5:10 AMP
“For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives–the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities].”
How many people, or how often, do we Christians think, “Ah, I have asked Jesus for forgiveness of my sins, and to come into my life, so that is my ticket to Heaven, I can carry on with life as I know life.
I in no way am judging, but if anyone is thinking or feeling that way, I hope this will be a wake up call.
We read in Ephesians 2:10, Paul wrote by the inspiration of Holy Spirit, we have been created in the image of Christ to do good works which God prepared especially for us, and He has prepared us to do those good works.
Ephesians 2:10 AMP
“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above–spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”
In the Old Testament, as well as the New Testament, we read that we will be judged by what we have done. This judgement that is mentioned will be of Born Again Christians, those who have asked Jesus for forgiveness of sins and to come into their lives. All will be judged, some will be rewarded.
This is foretold in the Old Testament.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
Our Lord Jesus speaks of the rewards to some, in this passage in the Gospel of Matthew.
27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
In the Revelation of Jesus Christ, recorded by Apostle John as seen in the vision John was given.
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
Steps in the life of a Christ follower:
—Listen for the voice of God
—Listen to the voice of God
—Be obedient to the instruction of God
There are great Blessings received as we live according to the Word of God, guided by the Spirit of God, all for the Glory of God.
