Trusting God

Imagine the feelings you would have if God told you to offer your son as a sacrifice to Him.

I know this was back in the day of Abraham, and we do not offer live sacrifices to God now.

Again imagine, God promised you something, something real important to you, as a son was to Abraham, and then God called on you to give it up, release it unto Him, even though when God gave the item, or the promise, it was to be a lasting promise, as Isaac was to Abraham.

How would you respond, I would probably have questions I know.

Abraham followed God’s direction perfectly. We are not told that he questioned at all. BUT, Abraham trusted God completely.

Read in verse 25, Abraham said to his servants, as he and Isaac walked up the mount in the region of Moriah, to the place of sacrifice alone, “we will come back to you.” Abraham knew God had a plan, and trusted God.

I imagine God had somehow worked in Isaac’s mind also. Remember Abraham would have been about 120 years old at this time, and Isaac about 20 years old. Yet Isaac did all Abraham asked, even to lay on the altar and be tied. That is submission.

God did provide a lamb to replace Isaac on the altar. Just as God provided the Lamb of God, Jesus, the Christ, to be the sacrifice for our sins, and to replace you and me on the cross. Praise Jesus.

Father God, I need an obedient heart and spirit, that trusts you completely in all things at all times, even, or especially when I do not understand. I ask You this Father, with expectations, receiving in Jesus Name, and in the Power of Your indwelling Spirit.

“God said, “Take now your son, your only son [of promise], whom you love, Isaac, and go to the region of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.””GENESIS 22:2 AMP

“Abraham said to his servants, “Settle down and stay here with the donkey; the young man and I will go over there and worship [God], and we will come back to you.””GENESIS 22:5 AMP

1 Response to Trusting God

  1. Amen, George! Something I eventually realized, God would never ask me to do something contrary to my conscience, something that would make my psyche go to war with my faith. He is incredibly protective of us, almost honoring. Adam for example, He put him to sleep before taking His rib. Terrible thought, but He didn’t have too! Adam would have survived. Thousands of years before anesthesia, God is being kind, gentle, protecting Adam’s mind from the trauma of surgery.

Abraham is another time, with a powerful faith of his own, and His obedience becomes the prophecy of God sending Jesus, His own Son, in a great act of love.
