Choices To Be Made By All

Joel 2:12-13
12 “Yet even now,” declares the Lord,

“return to me with all your heart,

with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;

13 and rend your hearts and not your garments.”

Return to the Lord your God,

for he is gracious and merciful,

slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;

and he relents over disaster.
While the date of the Prophet Joel writing this book, inspired by the Spirit of God, is uncertain, it is believed to be from ninth to sixth century B.C., but the message is certainly as valid and meaningful today as it was in Joel’s day.
Each nation was unfaithful to God, including Israel, the chosen people of God.

A number of warnings had been given to Israel, including by Joel to the Priests and Ministers to repent and turn back to God, but to no avail.

God finally gives a direct call to His people to repent and return to Him. He doesn’t want, or call for “things” from people, God wants the hearts of people.
Look at the situation of the world today. In the majority of lives where is any thought of God ranked? As our various governments make decisions that affect millions of people, within their own countries, and around the globe, where is God ranked?
 The end, “The Day Of The Lord”, is approaching. Watch the TV news, read newspapers, listen to World / government commentators; then read God’s Word, the Bible. Realize how up to date the final book of the Bible, Revelations, is.
As the above Scripture says, God wants our hearts, not our things as sacrifices. God does not need things, He wants people, His creation to turn back to Him.
God is Gracious and Merciful, and He has been waiting for a long time for people to turn to Him, but the time is getting shorter.

God does not wish any to spend eternity in hell. Hell is intended for satan and his demons. God has given every possible opportunity for people to spend eternity with Him in Heaven, even having His Only Son, Jesus Christ come to earth, suffer and die on the cross as punishment for our sin. Only a Perfect Sacrifice could atone for our sins, and Jesus Christ, God Himself, is the only Perfect person to walk on this earth.
Jesus died, but was resurrected from death, defeating death, so death has no hold on all who call upon Jesus for forgiveness of sins, repenting, and choosing to live for Him.

As mentioned above, God has been patient, and desires no one to spend eternity in hell, but we as individuals have to make a choice—a choice to repent and follow Jesus Christ, spending eternity with Him in Heaven, or the choice to refuse God’s offer and invitation to be with Him.
No choice, is still a choice, it is a choice of refusing the offer God gives, and has given for years. No one knows when our life on earth will end, or when Jesus will return to take all Christ followers home to Heaven. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, is calling people to Jesus. Some have wandered from their faith, as I did when I was young, but Holy Spirit is calling you back to Jesus. He has not forgotten you.

2 Corinthians 6:2
For he says,

“In a favorable time I listened to you,

and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

I am calling on all to seriously consider these two options. That is all there is-two options, and the choice needs to be made by each person individually. The choice cannot be made for a spouse, a parent, a son or daughter; we each need to take responsibility for our own lives.
This is a serious matter. Please consider it that way.

God Bless.
