The Eve Of Christmas Eve

The Eve Of Christmas Eve

It was the eve of Christmas Eve
Till now the shopping a man did leave,
Saying, the enjoyment of the bustle
Got his mind off the workweeks hustle.

As this man was struggling through the crowd,
He recalled that hundreds of people together are loud.
To his mind came a thought of a long gone night,
And he smiled to himself, thinking of that sight.

In a manger, of all places, a baby did lay,
Wrapped in clothes for warmth, lying on hay.
Angels did visit shepherds that night,
Singing songs to them of that glorious sight.

The shepherds went straight to that Bethlehem stall,
To see if the Angels story was true after all.
The baby was there, as the Angels foretold,
Mary and Joseph also, staying out of the cold.

Then more of this story came to his mind,
This Baby was the Saviour of all mankind.
No ordinary child was He,
God’s Son for all to see.

This Child was different from every other,
With one fact being, a virgin mother.
His earthly father accepted the fact, though odd,
That Mary’s conception was from the Spirit of God.

This Child grew to fulfill what all prophets said,
The Messiah, King, Lord, as we have read.
Living Water, Bread of Life, plus,
Provider, Healer, Immanuel, God with us.

Jesus, the Christ, is His Name,
And forever, He is the Same.
He is our Shepherd, Master and Friend,
And will be with us right to the end.

The Christ grew from a babe, became a Man among men,
With many followers, close Apostles, two plus ten.
Many also despised Him, and wanted Him dead,
False stories started, by religious leaders led.

He willingly gave Himself to be hung on a cross,
Knowing God’s plan of salvation for all who are lost.
The grave could not hold Him, as all would soon learn,
When He walked from the tomb, on that early Sunday Morn.

On His ascent to Heaven, Jesus promised to return,
He would again come to earth and claim all who are reborn.
He prepared the way, by his death and resurrection,
That each of us who live on earth, could have our sins forgiven.

So as we sit on this eve of Christmas Eve,
There is more to consider than what will be under the tree.
The greatest gift we can receive, if we only ask, is the gift of Eternal Life,
And this gift is free to all, because Christ Jesus paid the price with His Life.
