“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.”
Thinking of this verse, and paralleling the thought with our Christian life, proved interesting.
As a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, is the Light of Christ allowed to shine in us, upon us, and through us, for others to see in dark and gloomy places in this world.
Jesus is the Light of the world.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus Christ told His followers that we also are the light of the world.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
How often do we block the “light”, Jesus Christ, from being seen in our daily lives?
How do we cover / hide the “light”?
Perhaps by trying to fit in with other workers or students. Not wanting to be different from friends or family, and not speaking our true Christ centred thoughts during discussions. By not giving “real” reasons for doing, or not doing, activities of others, by saying we are busy, or not well, etc.
This writing brought instances to my mind, that I repented of, and asked God for strength, wisdom, discernment in the future to act and speak in total truth, for Jesus.
