“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5 ESV
“And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.” Revelation 21:23 ESV
“For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.” Psalm 18:28 ESV
“Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!” Psalm 43:3 ESV
Let’s imagine being in a large room, in total darkness, knowing there were a number of other people there, but not knowing how many, who, or where they were in the room.
Suddenly one person lights a candle, and the darkness is no more. Once the candle has been lit, all can see another person is there, and some can possibly see more than one person, because of the lit candle. Thirty seconds later, someone on the other side of the room lights a candle, now more people can be seen, and the atmosphere, and attitude of the people in the room improves and nervousness begins to lessen. Every thirty seconds a candle is lit, and the room keeps getting brighter, until everyone can see everyone else in the room because the light from each candle lit it’s own area, and also extended toward the other light to multiply the result.
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4 ESV
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 ESV
“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”” John 9:5 ESV
“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” John 12:46 ESV
Jesus Christ is the True Light of the world, and where He is, there can be no darkness.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” John 8:12 ESV
““You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 ESV
Once we have repented of our sin, asked Jesus to forgive us, and surrendered our lives to Him, we have His Light within us, because Jesus indwells us from that point on.
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 ESV
The point of all this, is that as Christians, Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, Disciples of His, we are to have His Light shining in and through us to draw others to Jesus.
If and when Christians argue about our own beliefs, and understandings, how does that Glorify Christ, and how would anyone be drawn to Jesus. Heated discussions, or arguments do nothing except separate the Body of Christ, putting a wedge between Believers, and keeping others away from knowing Jesus as Saviour.
I realize people do have different thoughts and beliefs on certain practices, but there are probably a lot more areas to be united on, so that is where our concentration should be.
We read where our Lord Jesus prayed to His, and our Heavenly Father, that we who follow Jesus may be one, just as Jesus and the Father are one. That is how persons in the world will believe that Jesus Christ is truly God, and sent to earth by God.
“that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:21 ESV
Apostle Paul confirms the need of Believers in Christ being united, and prays for God to give the harmony, so we may together Glorify God.
“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6 ESV
“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” 1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV
And in all things, at all times, we need to offer Praise to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
There is no one in our midst who is worthy of such praise.
“Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”” Revelation 5:13
“saying: “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”” Revelation 7:12
“Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!” 1 Chronicles 16:9-10 ESV
“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1 ESV
“For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm!” Psalm 47:7 ESV
