Knowing God verses Knowing of God

“And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.”‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:32-34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.”   Mark‬ ‭12:34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Even though the scribe confirmed, and agreed with Jesus that there is one God, and we are to love Him completely, and love our neighbour as ourselves, Jesus replied that the scribe was not far from the kingdom of God.
Knowledge of God is not the same as a relationship with God.

As with the scribe, anyone can know who God is, and know about God, but that will not place them in the kingdom of God. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is necessary for each of us to enter God’s Kingdom.
