This morning I read an item in a young lady Doctor’s blog that caused my mind to stop every other thought, and focus / reflect on what she wrote.
She had been on a short term mission trip, and one of the men, a Christ Follower in that nation asked a question of her. He said “….would you rather share the gospel or provide medical care to the people in………?”
I stopped reading, temporarily, right there, and the thought process began. While out and about doing various things for others, when an opportunity arises to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, what would the percentage be that I take advantage of the opportunity the Holy Spirit has given me?
When I am involved in any kind of activity, alone or at an event, and an opportunity is given by the Holy Spirit to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, what is the percentage when I have grasped hold of that opportunity, and in loving boldness shared what Jesus has done for me and will do for anyone, rather than walk away in fear, and later regret.
Many times in our lives, we may be in a situation, doing whatever our natural responsibilities or duties may be, or perhaps during a time of pleasure or relaxation, when we will have a Divine appointment. We need to recognize these appointments and act on them. This is done by being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. As a Christ Follower we have the Spirit of Jesus within us, directing our paths, so once we hear Him, it then takes obedience on our part, and He will give Strength.
We may have a fear of what others may think or say, but the following Scripture may help alleviate some of the fear also.
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. (John 15:18-21 ESV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17 ESV)
“And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. “(1 John 5:11-12 ESV)
By the way, in the above noted blog the Doctor first replied that she would rather treat someone medically because “it is easier.” How often is that our natural response?
The one thing to remember is that medical help, and help in other ways is temporary, while Salvation according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is eternal.
God’s Blessings and Strength for all of us, as we live our eternal life in this temporal world.
