When we are doing things in our own power and strength, we will not always get the
results we are expecting.
The disciples were used to fishing, they were good at what they did, that was their
business, yet they spent all night fishing and caught nothing.
At this point they were probably tired and frustrated.
Then Jesus came into the scene.
Jesus told them to put their nets in the water on the right side of the boat, and when they
did, the nets were too heavy from the number of fish to pull into the boat.
Even with the weight from the large number of fish, when Peter and the others pulled the
net onto shore, it did not tear.
In our lives, we can keep following a routine or pattern we have been doing, even in
serving or ministry, and get tired and see no results.
The important thing is to know we are following the directions of Jesus.
Jesus prepared the fish to be caught. Jesus also kept the nets strong so they would not tear
as they had done previously, (Lk. 5:6).
When we are in the will of God and serving as He leads, we will not break down or burn
out. When He calls us to a particular area of service, or tells us to do a particular thing,
He will also give us the strength to follow through and complete what He has called us to
Jesus prepares the plan for us to do.
Jesus has a purpose for each of us.
Jesus prepares His people for His plan.
Jesus fulfills His plan through His people.
Jesus strengthens His people to complete His plan.
