Matthew 9:36
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Mark 8:1-3
During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.
If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.”
Hebrews 13:8
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
When Jesus Christ walked on earth He cared and had compassion for people in every aspect of their lives. Jesus cared about their emotional well-being, and gave direction, as well as caring for their physical needs by feeding them when they were hungry. Scripture tells us that Jesus is the same today as He was when He walked on this earth. He still cares and He still has compassion, and He still provides for people’s needs, whether the needs may be emotional, spiritual or physical.
The difference, during these days, is that Jesus provides for these needs through His people on earth. We are His ambassadors to do His will and His work while we are here. We are blessed to be able to do as Jesus would do, and follow Him.
