In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
While reading this passage another applicable thought came to mind, a thought of where we all once were, and many still are.
Each life when born is spiritually dark. Spiritually dark means we are born in sin.
Romans 3:23 NIRV
“Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God’s glory.”
There are consequences for all things and the consequences / wages for sin is death. As Scripture tells us, we all have sinned and there is a price needed to pay for the sin, so Jesus Christ came to earth in human form and willingly died on the cross to pay the price of everyone’s sin, if we will only accept the fact that He did this for us, and repent.
Romans 6:23 NIRV
“When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.”
When we were spiritually dark, and in sin, we could not see truth, nor where we were headed. Jesus Christ is the Light of the world and came to show us the way to life. The same Spirit of God Who was hovering over the waters in the beginning continues to be ready to act to change lives today. God spoke the light into being, and in later days God Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ, Who is Light, came to earth, and His Light is still here.
John 12:46 MSG
“I am Light that has come into the world so that all who believe in me won’t have to stay any longer in the dark.”
The Word of God states that God has called each person unto Himself.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 NIV
“[Stand Firm] But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.”
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12
“11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,
12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.”
As the Apostles Peter and Paul spoke the truth of God, God the Holy Spirit came and called each person who heard, and brought conviction upon them.
Acts 10:44 NIV
“While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.”
1 Thessalonians 1:5 NIV
“because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.”
We as Christ Followers also have the privilege to share the Love and Gospel of Jesus Christ so the Spirit of Jesus can call others to Jesus. God’s Blessings as we serve Him.
