Isaiah 1: 17, 23
“Learn to do right!
Seek justice,
Encourage the oppressed,
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
Plead the case of the widow.”

“Your rulers are rebels,
Companions of thieves,
They all love bribes
And chase after gifts.
They do not defend the cause of the fatherless;
The widow’s case does not come before them.”

Many people are suffering in various ways, and can see no way of their lives being improved. We as the Body of Christ, have the Words of hope to share with those who are oppressed.
Some are running in circles with no known purpose in their lives, we can show them peace and comfort, and introduce them to the Creator of life, and let each person know that each is important and God has a plan for them.
Many are fatherless for a variety of reasons. There are many single moms for a variety of reasons. A great number of these individuals have a difficult time getting through even regular day to day activities.
We as believers are to find ways to help. We are not to sit back and wait for people in need to come to us, but we are to go out and offer assistance.

The words in this scripture;“ seek, encourage, defend, plead” are words of action, meaning to get out and get involved in helping those in society who need help.
It appears that this verse means more than meeting material needs. When wrongs have been done against a person, and just left, we are to initiate means so justice will be done and those hurt will be compensated or the situation will be corrected, or a new remedy put in place.
Those who are down and oppressed need to hear a word of encouragement. Some need ongoing encouragement because they have been continually degraded and have no thoughts of self-value at all. Each needs to hear, and have impressed into their mind until they believe it, that Jesus loves each, and He is willing and able and desirous to remove the oppression from each person, and each person from the oppression.
Children without fathers, and ladies without husbands are vulnerable quite often.
Each needs someone to come alongside and give support, and give strength.
We have a mandate to fulfill these words, because we as believers are the hands of Jesus, we are the feet of Jesus on this earth. We are the Body of Christ and are to minister His compassion and care.

Christ would be so much more glorified in this world if we but took those words of action to heart and applied them to our daily lives. We are to care for others, as Christ cared for us.
